Compatibility summary
| Windows | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Windows 10 | Primary documented platform for centering, animations and supported background styling |
| Early Windows 11 | Historically limited behavior; check exact OS build against README |
| Windows 11 after build 22621.1265 | Not supported for the original TaskbarX behavior, according to the archived README |
| Windows 7/8 | Not supported or not tested by the developer |
Check the build, not just the name
Use Win+R → winver to see the operating system build. Windows 11 feature release names alone do not capture cumulative updates that changed the taskbar internally.
Reversible route
For Windows 10, use the portable version and stop it to restore ordinary icon placement. On current Windows 11, use built-in taskbar settings instead of assuming a legacy customizer can modify the new taskbar.
